Believe it or not, it all started with a dream. Literally.

Bob "Smokin' Jack" Krauss woke up one morning and told his wife Pamela he'd seen himself involved with a restaurant in Kansas City and even saw its name-"Kansas City Jack's"-a pretty startling statement considering that he was in Southern California at the time, owning and operating a highly successful auto repair and body shop in beautiful downtown Burbank.

But that dream led to a bit of research-Bob, a lifelong cook with a flair for blending flavors, hadn't even specifically dreamed of barbecue, but when he followed his dream and visited a few libraries to seek out the quintessential Kansas City flavor, the sweet aromas of smoke, spice, and succulence sent him to his kitchen where, after a lot of trial and fine-tuning, a sauce:and a success story:were born!
